Sector Development

Our programs have been shaped by our findings from long-term research studies about factors for success for farm and food businesses.

One of our strategic goals is to use our knowledge and relationships to catalyze, support, or lead systematic efforts to accelerate the development of the sector. We are proud to host and to help launch the Agricultural Viability Alliance: Cultivating Farm and Food Entreprenuership.

"I have always dreamed of starting my own farm, but never even started thinking about how to make it happen, because I felt that there was no way I could ever finance a farm. The Carrot Project helped me to understand the financing options there are for young farmers, and more importantly left me feeling confident that its possible and inspired to start making my dream a reality."

Elizabeth Bee Ayer, aspiring farm owner, Copake, NY
